For those of you who focus on lifestyle and don't mind a bit of commute there is a community just across the river from Poolesville that you probably are not even aware of.  Just outside of, but incorporated as part of, the Town of Leesburg is the gated, golf course community of River Creek with townhomes and detached homes ranging from the high $500's to $1.5 million and higher.  I discovered this oasis on the Potomac a few years ago and purchased two investment properties here.  One of them backed to the Potomac River and the 17th hole of the golf course.  As the house went up it was hard to resist the draw of River Creek.   Not far outside the gates of River Creek is the Town of Leesburg and many other local amenities that are also exceptional. 

Now, I know what you're thinking.  Leesburg???  It seems like a world away from Montgomery County.  But, thanks to White's Ferry, if you have just a bit of flexibility in your schedule it is an easy and pleasant 50-60 minute drive to Gaithersburg.  Once inside the gates of River Creek you're captivated by the community and will forget about the drive. However, I will be the first to admit that it is not for everyone but, for those with an appreciation for the palet of social activities a county club community can provide, you will want to at least take a look at River Creek.

River Creek Country Club, operated by Dallas based Club Corp, the world leader in private clubs, is unrivaled in the Washington area for sports and social club amenities.  Golf, tennis, Potomac River boating, outdoor recreation areas, the newly remodeled swimming pool area and the club house itself offer weekly social and sports activities that will keep the whole family busy and entertained.  And, best of all, you can walk to it all!

Now I'm sure you'll think I'm crazy for adding a grocery store to this long list of amenities but that is only because you may have never visited a Wegman's supermarket!  Wegman's put the "super" in the word "supermarket"!  This food based amusement park is truly amazing.  I've even run into friends from Gaithersburg who made the trip across the ferry just to shop at Wegman's.  The brand new Leesburg store opened in November of 2009 and is just 1.6 miles from the front gate of River Creek.
